TEACHER DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE INSTITUTE

The Teacher Development and Performance Institute (TDPI) improves overall school
performance and student achievement at LEAP Academy through professional
development and capacity building for faculty and school administrators.  Since 2000,
TDPI has served 27 schools and 178 teachers and administrators in Camden.

TDPI’s strategic framework focuses on the following:

  • Educating teachers, principals, and administrators
  • Creating a culture of learning
  • Encouraging a philosophy of lifelong learning
  • Link professional development to teacher's needs and objectives
  • Model best practices learned from the LEAP Academy and other successful models
  • Practice effective communication and leadership;
  • Adopt strategies to help economically disadvantaged students become high achievers
  • Effect systematic change

Participants are also provide individual feedback through a variety of instruments
and professional assessments like 360° PROFILOR.  By focusing on these areas,
the Institute creates valuable partnerships and transforms the school climate and
community, which all lead to increased instructional capacity and school success.
